Worldline Switzerland is hiring for an enthusiastic software engineer to join the Acquiring Global Products back-office team in Zurich. You will build and evolve a large, mission-critical payments platform used by merchants worldwide, embracing end-to-end ownership from analysis to operation.

You will work in a DevOps environment using Java, Spring, Oracle SQL/PL-SQL, and containerized infrastructure. Fluent German and English are required to collaborate effectively with global colleagues.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java and Spring (Boot) and SQL/PL-SQL.
• Experience with container technologies and CI/CD tooling.
• Fluency in German and English, written and spoken.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a very large, business-critical platform that merchants worldwide rely on every day.
• Work in an agile DevOps team that owns features across the full lifecycle: analysis, design, implementation, functional testing, deployment, operation, and support.
• Develop robust backend solutions using Java and Spring (Boot) as your daily toolkit.
• Work with Oracle databases (SQL / PL-SQL) as a core part of our application landscape.
• Operate in a hybrid infrastructure: a heavily containerized world (think Podman & friends) running alongside bare-metal systems.
• Ship with confidence using modern CI/CD (e.g., GitLab CI) and infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible).
• Leverage AI smartly and responsibly – we actively encourage using tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to write better code faster, improve quality, and free up time for the problems that really matter. This is something we live, not just talk about.
• Take part in on-call / stand-by rotation to keep the systems you build healthy and running.

Who Are We Looking For

We look for people who want to drive positive changes, step up, and grow – people with passion, a can‑do attitude, and a genuine hunger to learn. In practice, this means:

• Genuine passion for software development
• Some professional experience building software – you don't need to be a senior, but you should be comfortable contributing to real‑world systems
• Working knowledge of Java and Spring (Boot) (or a strong willingness to grow into it)
• Experience with database development, ideally Oracle SQL / PL-SQL
• Familiarity with containers and an openness to bare-metal environments
• A smart, curious approach to AI tooling in everyday development
• Practical experience with version control (Git preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field – or equivalent practical experience
• Fluent German and English skills, written and spoken
• Customer-oriented, independent, flexible, creative, and a pragmatic team player
• Willingness and availability for 24/7 on-call duty as a core part of the role
