Zusammenfassung

CERN, based in Geneva, seeks a Software Engineer to modernise its Geodetic Metrology data management system by migrating legacy Oracle APEX/PL/SQL apps to a Java/Spring Boot and Angular platform. You will lead a redesign of a mission-critical application for the Accelerator Complex.

You will analyze Oracle APEX pages, implement REST APIs, write tests, and work across CERN with IT and multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, scalable software while following modern Agile practices.

Qualifikationen

• Strong knowledge of the Spring framework ecosystem.
• Relational databases, especially Oracle, with PL/SQL proficiency.
• Design reliable software following SOLID principles or similar.
• Familiar with SDLC tools, methodologies, and procedures.
• Ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and proactive problem-solving.
• English or French with willingness to learn the other language.
• Graduate background in Software Engineering or related field with relevant postgrad experience or PhD.

Aufgaben

• Analyse Oracle APEX pages, processes and PL/SQL to map workflows.
• Implement Spring Boot REST APIs and Angular frontend.
• Write automated tests and apply software quality practices.
• Participate in the full SDLC with an agile approach.
• Interact with end-users to translate needs into software solutions.
• Collaborate with IT and CERN teams to deliver scalable software.
• Role includes team supervision responsibilities.
• Work with concurrent and multithreaded programming.
• Apply QA practices: code reviews, tests, and documentation (SonarQube).
• Design scalable services and APIs; work with CI/CD pipelines and deployments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native tech.
• Knowledge of Oracle APEX is a plus.
