Job summary

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. is seeking a Software Engineer Flight Test to develop front- and back-end web services used in the Flight Test Department. You will expand automated data and video processing, archival and management with modern tools and CI/CD pipelines.

Collaboration with IT and cloud integrations is required; English and German skills are essential. Ideal candidates have a higher IT or engineering degree and experience in software/web development on Linux with Docker, plus a strong drive

• Higher education in IT or engineering.
• Experience in software or web development with Linux servers and Docker.
• Good spoken and written English and German.
• Motivation to learn on the go and autonomously implement solutions.
• Demonstrated initiative from idea to execution.

Responsibilities

• Front and backend development of web-based services using Django, Django‑Ninja, Pydantic, and Vue.js.
• Update and extend software for automated measurement data, video processing, archiving and management with Airflow, Python, C++, FFmpeg, Parquet.
• Manage code repositories, Python packages and CI/CD (Git, GitHub, uv, Dockhand).
• Collaborate with IT for identity management, Azure cloud integrations, storage and tools (Azure, GitHub Copilot, WSL).
• Support flight test operations by capturing data/videos and monitoring automatic processing.

Software Engineer Flight Test

Your Tasks

• Front and backend development of existing and new web-based services used within the Flight Test Department using (django, django-ninja, pydantic, vue.js)


• Update and further development of custom software for automated measurement data and video processing, archival and management (Apache Airflow, Python, C++, ffmpeg, parquet)


• Management of code repositories, python packages and CI/CD (Git, GitHub, uv, Dockhand)


• Interaction with IT-Department for identity management, Azure Cloud Integrations, Storage and software development tools (Azure, GitHub CoPilot, WSL)


• Support flight test operatons py capturing recorded data and videos, and monitor automatic processing
