Job summary

Hive Power is seeking an experienced DevOps/SRE engineer to own our production platform's health and reliability. You will design monitoring, implement alerts, and build internal tooling to prevent incidents, not just react to them.

We value Python fluency, Kubernetes operations, and hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and CI/CD tooling. Remote-friendly, with occasional travel to Europe; 4–6 years in startup or fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• Excellent written English.
• 4-6 years of experience in software, platform, SRE or DevOps engineering in startup or fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience deploying, operating and troubleshooting workloads on Kubernetes.
• Strong coding skills with focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Experience building internal tooling: dashboards, runbooks, automated remediation.

Responsibilities

• Own the health and reliability of a production platform built on Kubernetes, including its databases and messaging layer.
• Design, tune and maintain monitoring and alerting to detect issues early and keep alerts actionable.
• Develop internal tooling, KPIs, dashboards and automated remediation of recurring issues.
• Investigate unfamiliar systems by reading code/logs, formulating hypotheses and validating with limited guidance.
• Participate in on-call or incident response as needed.

This is a new role. So far, the engineering team has shared platform health across everything else they build. As the customer base grows we want someone dedicated to it: an engineer who owns system health, alerting and internal tooling, and who moves us from reacting to problems to preventing them. This is an internal, infrastructure-facing role rather than a customer-facing one. You would take that work on, and just as importantly, shape how it gets done.

• Ownership of the health and reliability of a production platform built on Kubernetes, including its databases, messaging layer and the services running on it
• Ability to design, tune and maintain monitoring and alerting so that issues are detected early and alerts remain clear and actionable
• Strong coding skills, applied to resolving root causes in the codebase rather than applying temporary workarounds
• Experience building internal tooling and automation: system health KPIs, dashboards, runbooks and automated remediation of recurring issues
• Autonomy in investigating unfamiliar systems: reading code and logs, forming hypotheses and verifying them with limited guidance
• 4-6 years of experience as a software, platform, SRE or DevOps engineer, including time in a startup or a similarly fast-paced environment
• Solid fundamentals: relational databases, networking basics and fluency in Python.
• Hands-on experience deploying, operating and troubleshooting workloads on Kubernetes
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude, as part of your everyday workflow, combined with sound independent judgement
• Familiarity with observability stacks such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki or similar, and with designing alerts people actually act on
• Infrastructure as code and CI/CD, Helm, GitHub Actions or equivalents
• Familiarity with industrial and energy protocols such as Modbus, or MQTT, or with high-volume telemetry ingestion in general
• Previous on-call or incident response experience
