Jobgether, partnering with a climate-tech company in Switzerland, seeks a hands-on Senior Design Engineer to bridge product design and frontend development. You will turn ideas into polished, production-ready interfaces across core platform, customer-facing experiences, and the company website.

You will shape design systems, collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers, and own features from concept to release.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of UI design engineering or frontend design engineering experience.
• Strong React and TypeScript with solid HTML/CSS and accessibility foundations.
• Experience with APIs and API design decisions.
• Portfolio showing design work and production interfaces.
• Recent practical AI usage in design/engineering workflows.
• Contributing to a design system used by product or engineering teams.
• Ability to ship features from concept to release without detailed specs.
• Excellent written communication for a remote-first environment.
• Interest in energy transition and electrification technology.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and ship production-ready user interfaces across the core platform, customer-facing connection experience, and website, working directly in the codebase.
• Contribute to the design system in collaboration with front-end engineers, developing components, design tokens, and documentation.
• Keep the design system aligned across Figma, code, AI-assisted tools, and other workflows.
• Create interactive prototypes in code to explore concepts and test ideas with customers and colleagues.
• Improve the quality of user experiences by refining interactions, motion, accessibility, performance, and interface details.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve front-end development, review, and release processes.
• Work with engineers on API design and improvements to make developer-facing interfaces clear.
• Develop tools and prototypes that strengthen collaboration between design and engineering.
• Help shape the team's use of AI for prototyping and workflow improvement.
• Take ownership of projects from concepts through release.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Design Engineer based in Switzerland.

We are looking for a hands-on Design Engineer who bridges the gap between product design and front-end development. You will turn ideas and designs into polished, production-ready interfaces across a platform used by energy retailers and developers, customer-facing connection flows, and the company website. Working closely with designers, engineers, and product managers, you will help shape the tools and experiences supporting the transition to a smarter, more flexible energy system. You will have significant ownership in a small, senior team where your work moves directly into production. The role also offers an opportunity to influence design systems, front-end practices, and the practical use of AI in creative and engineering workflows.

Accountabilities

• Build, develop, and ship production-ready user interfaces across the core platform, customer-facing connection experience, and website, working directly in the codebase.

• Contribute significantly to the design system in collaboration with front-end engineers, developing and maintaining components, design tokens, and documentation.

• Keep the design system aligned across Figma, code, AI-assisted tools, and other workflows.

• Create interactive prototypes in code to explore concepts, test ideas with customers and colleagues, and validate directions before full implementation.

• Improve the quality of user experiences by refining interactions, motion, accessibility, performance, and interface details.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve front-end development, review, and release processes, ensuring design intent is consistently reflected in production.

• Work with engineers on API design and improvements, helping make developer-facing interfaces clear, intuitive, and easy to integrate.

• Develop tools and prototypes that strengthen collaboration between design and engineering.

• Help shape the team's use of AI for prototyping, exploration, development, and workflow improvement, while recognizing its limitations.

• Take ownership of projects from early concepts through implementation and release, contributing to a high standard of design and engineering craft.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of experience building user interfaces in design engineering, front-end development, or a design-focused engineering role.

• Deep knowledge of React and TypeScript, alongside strong foundations in HTML, CSS, and web accessibility.

• Solid understanding of APIs, including the ability to interpret documentation, work with real data, understand developer needs, and contribute to API design decisions.

• A portfolio demonstrating both design work and implemented, production-quality interfaces.

• Recent practical experience using AI in design and engineering workflows, with a clear understanding of where AI adds value and where it falls short.

• Experience contributing to a design system that is actively used by product or engineering teams.

• Ability to work independently, taking an initial idea or loosely defined problem through to a shipped feature without requiring a detailed specification.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain design decisions to engineers and technical constraints to designers.

• Excellent written communication skills, particularly important in a remote-first working environment.

• Strong attention to detail and a passion for refining the finer aspects of interface quality, including transitions, spacing, and edge cases.

• Interest in the energy transition and motivation to contribute to technology that supports electrification and more flexible energy use.
