Shop Floor Quality Engineer: Bridging QA & QC

Job summary

Alfa Laval seeks a hands-on Quality Engineer to bridge Quality Assurance and Quality Control on the shop floor, driving collaboration and operational excellence. You will be deeply involved with non-conformities, customer claims, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting audits and documentation.

You will work closely with production teams, contribute to root cause analysis, and help standardize quality tools and processes across site operations.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical background.
• 5+ years of quality-related experience in an industrial environment.
• Experience dealing with customer claims, non-conformities and customer-facing quality issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to be close to operations and production teams.
• Proactive, adaptable, solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Good command of French; German would be a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of ATEX and PED regulations is a plus.
• Experience with rotating equipment is a plus.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 principles and quality management systems desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary interface between Quality Management and Quality Control, fostering collaboration and alignment.
• Be present on the shop floor and work closely with operational teams daily.
• Support and serve as backup for management of non-conformities and corrective actions.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to development of customer claim driving processes.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and maintain professional quality oversight.
• Conduct internal and external quality audits.
• Prepare and manage quality documentation including MDBs, ITPs and certificates.
• Participate in audits with Notified Bodies and support project execution.
• Contribute to development and standardization of quality tools and processes.
• Improve and develop Quality Control processes, practices and methodologies.
• Monitor the site’s metrology program (calibration, inspection and equipment sent to lab).
• Support final inspections and QC activities as required.
