Job summary

Sompo Holdings, Inc. in Zurich seeks a (Senior) Underwriter Casualty to independently manage a portfolio of profitable Casualty business, create offers with terms and conditions to drive profitability, and lead negotiations with clients and brokers.

You will contribute to underwriting strategies, support product development, monitor market developments, and actively promote Sompo to attract new business submissions across Switzerland.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of professional experience in the insurance sector with strong knowledge in multinational Casualty Underwriting.
• Strong underwriting skills and technical knowledge.
• Experience in start-ups or developing new business/products is a plus.
• Networking, market knowledge and client/broker relationships in Switzerland.
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage, build and process a portfolio of profitable Casualty business and create offers with terms and conditions.
• Conduct contract negotiations, participate in client meetings and present to clients/brokers.
• Maintain relationships and develop new business with Business Development colleagues.
• Contribute to underwriting strategies and monitor market developments.
• Support product development and market introduction; promote the Sompo brand.
• Engage in cross-selling with related Sompo units and markets.
