Your mission

Based in Zurich, we seek an experienced Senior Space Thermo-mechanical Engineer responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and delivery of opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems for space applications. This on-site role requires:

  • Deep understanding of thermo-mechanical engineering principles and extensive experience managing space project challenges.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the mechanical and thermal design of satellite opto-mechanical and opto-electronic equipment from concept through detailed design to manufacturing files, ensuring compliance with mechanical and thermal requirements.
  • Performing structural analysis.
  • Supporting mechanical testing, such as vibration testing.
  • Evaluating test results and correlating with models.
  • Managing project delivery, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Preparing technical documentation, including reports and plans.
  • Conducting risk assessments and mitigation planning.
  • Participating in project reviews and providing technical support.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Staying updated on advances in space technologies and implementing best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Supporting technical proposals for new products.

Candidate profile

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the space industry.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., NASTRAN, Simcenter) and CAD tools (e.g., NX CAD).
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with spacecraft systems and industry standards (NASA, ESA, commercial standards).
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Swiss languages is a plus.
  • Additional assets: familiarity with ESATAN-TMS or thermal analysis tools, MS Project.
