The Position
The Senior Specialist, Master Data Management, is part of the Global Master Data Management Team (Data Quality & Governance / EMEA / Americas / AP / ExM) and supports all requirements to ensure accurate, timely and compliant Master data creation, maintenance, and related activities in SAP. The Global Master Data Management team performs various checks, analyses, and acts as a critical partner for stakeholders across multiple workstreams and functions and is ultimately responsible for material master data and related data objects that contribute to timely & accurate material readiness to enable plan, source, make and deliver processes.
Job Description
The Position
The Senior Specialist, Master Data Management, is part of the Global Master Data Management Team (Data Quality & Governance / EMEA / Americas / AP / ExM) and supports all requirements to ensure accurate, timely and compliant Master data creation, maintenance, and related activities in SAP. The Global Master Data Management team performs various checks, analyses, and acts as a critical partner for stakeholders across multiple workstreams and functions and is ultimately responsible for material master data and related data objects that contribute to timely & accurate material readiness to enable plan, source, make and deliver processes.
Continuous improvement and end-to-end thinking to support the business is an inherent part of this role.
Responsibilities
- Right First Time E2E Material creation/ change/ extension including all pre-checks - evaluation of correct parameters and data sets to raise a compliant and error free request in APPIAN/ SAP MDG
- Oversees the material master data Change Control process which includes pre-approval and post-approval activities in a timely manner in APPIAN & ETQ
- Knowledge holder SCM pattern, responsible for translating Financial Supply Chain Maps into correct master data set up
- Key point of contact to manufacturing sites for Master Data Processes
- Purchase Info Record Creation Coordination & Maintenance (external sites)
- Source list Creation & Maintenance
- Request costing
- Liaison for customer & vendor master data requests
- BOM, Production Version & Recipe creation & maintenance (external sites & DCs)
- Subcon PIR & Outline agreement creation coordination & maintenance (external sites & DCs)
- Project support for new CMOs, and new in-licensing deals: Coordination of new plants, customer & vendor master data creation
- Liaise with GLAMs team to enable interface with SAP (external sites)
- Responsible for the data creation to enable business processes such as product launches, business deals, acquisitions, clinical supply, source changes, set up of new distribution centers
- Perform Mass Changes in SAP
- Co-ordinate & execute material obsolescence process
- Interpret data requests and determine appropriate course of action or obtain additional clarification, if necessary
- Address all client inquiries, including, but not limited to own process.
- Monitor the status of Master data requests & ensure timely approval & execution.
- Monitors data, analyzes reports and tracks specific activity to ensure records are synchronized. Acts to resolve all issues and discrepancies. Oversees and analyses the supply chain information to ensure data accuracy and clean up.
- Applies knowledge of the master data processes to support internal and external stakeholders as required.

Data Quality
- Analysis and remediation for MDQ errors, where Global MDM is the data owner
- Partner with other data owner groups to ensure that they have internal processes in place to monitor their data quality
- Partner with other data owner groups to identify and implement new data quality business rules/ updates to business rules driven by business process changes.
- Partner with Business Technology to design and implement data quality tool/ enhancements to the implemented tool.
- Builds expertise in the use of the data quality tool, and its supporting data architecture
Data Governance
- Governance of global data standards when entering data into the system and when necessary, apply country- specific and plant-specific data standards.
- Author and own the Global Master Data SOPs, WIs & JAs.
- Understand and apply Global Master Data SOPs, WIs & JAs correctly
- Perform data validation activities for ERP implementations.
- Act as system superuser in the build, testing, roll out & subsequent enhancements of data governance tools (SAP MDG, Syniti Knowledge Platform, SAP Fiori Workflow, ETQ Elog)
- MDG Role design and implementation
- Builds expertise in the use and application of our data governance tools.
INFORMATION GOVERNANCE: Create clarity on data elements’ functionality (per value), ownership and impact of incorrect data. Consists of:
- Data Dictionary (SAP)
- DQ rules
- Data Lineage (link SAP Glossary and DQ rules)
- Builds expertise in the use of the Information Governance tool and educates stakeholders across data owner groups in its use and application
People Leadership
- Leading / coaching Master data team (approx. 2-3 people)
- Manage a complex network of stakeholders including but not limited to: Artwork Team, Business Technology, Finance, DF/ DL, DSOS – Offshore execution team, E2E & CMO Planning, EQA, E-sourcing, Global Portfolio Management, Site MDM Team, Site Quality, EXM Operations: Focus Factory Team, SCM Center of Excellence - Process Stewards, Serialization, Value Chain Management, EHS, GSS, Procurement, Global Quality
- Act as brand ambassador for the Global Master Data Management team: educating stakeholders on the impact of master data in their processes, delivers trainings on master data processes and systems to stakeholders as required.
- Co-host the Global MDM community of practice along with the Global MDM Leadership Team.
- Bring up relevant topics to present in Global MDM Community of practice and other forums as applicable.
Education
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field such as Manufacturing, Logistics and Supply Chain is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in pharmaceutical environment
Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Management and Data
- Demonstrated experience and competence with Supply Chain processes.
- Highly organized profile, proactive and problem-solving mindset.
- Strong English communication skills written and verbally.
- Awareness of business and industry dynamics and regulations
- Capable of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Strong SAP and MS Office experience
Competencies Required For The Role
- APICS CPIM or CSCMP certification is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to communicate, collaborate and influence and lead a team of around 2-4 people.
- Ability to think End-to-End when analyzing problems and resolving project conflicts.
- Willingness to be flexible and to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Independent and takes ownership.
- Proficient in working in a remote/ hybrid environment, capable of collaborating with personnel across multiple locations and time zones.
