The Nanoelectronic Devices Laboratory (Nanolab) at EPFL, under the direction of Professor Adrian Ionescu, invites applications for a Senior Scientist / Postdoctoral Fellow position focused on low-power semiconductor devices and integrated sensors for Edge AI applications. This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about advancing energy-efficient technologies and biosensing systems at the intersection of semiconductor devices and artificial intelligence.

Research Areas Include

– Development of low-power and memristive devices and sensors for AI edge inference and Digital Twins

– Exploration and integration of 2D semiconductors in CMOS BEOL for in-sensor computing hardware

– Advancement of biofluid-interfacing sensors for in situ monitoring and digital health

– Creation of integrated systems for multimodal biosensing and intelligent sensing platforms

The successful candidate will be engaged in experimental research, collaborate closely with the lab director, participate in teaching within the EPFL doctoral school, and mentor PhD students. Additional responsibilities include leading technology transfer initiatives, fostering industry partnerships, and contributing to EU-funded research projects.

Candidate Requirements

– PhD in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics, or related disciplines

– Demonstrated expertise in biosensing and semiconductor devices

– Proficiency in micro/nanofabrication, device characterization, and system integration

– Strong collaborative and mentoring skills

– Previous experience with European or industrial research collaborations is an advantage
