Job summary

Lever, Inc. seeks a Senior QA Engineer based in Switzerland to join a product squad as a technical leader for quality strategy, automation, and performance testing.

You will own test architecture, define quality gates, and mentor engineers, shaping testing standards and tooling across the organization in a fintech-focused environment. You will collaborate from earliest stages with engineering and product teams, driving intelligent test design, AI-assisted test generation, and robust regression

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA engineering experience in a software product environment with ownership of testing strategy.
• Strong test automation engineering skills with production-quality tests in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Deep experience with API testing including REST, contract testing, integration testing, and JSON schema validation.
• Hands-on performance and load testing experience, interpreting throughput and concurrency results.
• Experience in Java-based backend environments and understanding of architecture.
• Ability to mentor other QA engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Experience in fintech, payments, or digital financial services is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted QA workflows and LLM-based test generation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Embed within an engineering squad as a core technical contributor in agile ceremonies.
• Define and refine acceptance criteria with Product Owners.
• Own the squad's test architecture and strategy across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.
• Lead performance and load testing, establishing baselines and actionable improvements.
• Own Definition of Done and quality gates prior to release.
• Design and maintain automated test suites that work in CI.
• Triage flaky tests vs genuine regressions in high-risk areas.
• Mentor QA engineers and raise testing standards across teams.
• Contribute to QA chapter standards, tooling decisions, onboarding resources.
• Own strategic QA initiatives, e.g., contract testing or AI-assisted workflows.
• Leverage AI tooling for test generation, data creation, and regression analysis.
