As Senior Product Safety Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of product safety information for the dsm-firmenich product portfolio. Your main focus will be ensuring full legal compliance regarding Safety Data Sheets and product classifications (e.g., GHS). You will be part of the global dsm-firmenich Safety, Health, Environment & Security organization, specifically the Product Stewardship team. You will liaise with all business units and regions worldwide, providing support and advice based on your expertise in product safety and chemical legislation.

Your key responsibilities
  1. Maintain data for products and raw materials in SAP EHS, create and update Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), and review substance classifications regularly.
  2. Translate study results into SAP EH&S to enable correct classification of substances.
  3. Transfer Chemical Safety Reports into exposure scenarios for eSDS.
  4. Support the maintenance of regulatory content in SAP EH&S and future SAP PLM systems.
  5. Handle internal customer requests.
  6. Monitor global chemical legislation changes, assess impact, and support implementation; advise the business on substances of concern.
  7. Support new product launches by defining necessary studies and identifying potential substances of concern.
  8. Provide operational support regarding safe handling and storage at production sites.
  9. Participate in interdisciplinary projects related to product safety and maintain a network of safety specialists.
  10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal Occupational Exposure values.
  11. Represent the company externally.

What you bring
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in chemistry or a related natural science field; industrial hygiene background preferred.
  • 5-8 years of practical experience in product safety or stewardship.
  • Proficiency with SAP EH&S, including regulatory content updates (desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of EU CLP regulation, GHS UN, and Dangerous Goods classification rules.
  • Experience with Poison Center Notifications.
  • Ability to interpret legislation into workable solutions.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and in multicultural teams.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Fluent in English.
