Lonza Group Ltd. in Visp, Switzerland, invites an Associate Principal Scientist to lead mammalian upstream development and hands‑on laboratory work.

You will drive CHO culture activities, model scale‑up/scale‑down, and generate data to enable tech transfer to Pilot and GMP facilities. You will act as SME for CHO culture, guide cross‑functional teams, and build strong customer relationships through clear scientific communication.

Formación

• BSc with 7+ years or MSc with 5+ years of relevant mammalian upstream development experience.
• Hands-on CHO culture with AMBR250/AMBR15, shake flasks, and bioreactors.
• Strong scale‑up/scale‑down expertise and tech transfer experience.
• Ability to plan and execute lab-scale experiments in cross‑functional settings.
• Excellent communication in technical English; weekend/holiday work as needed.

Responsabilidades

• Lead, design, and execute complex upstream process development activities, including small‑scale studies (up to 10L), ensuring quality and safety standards and documenting data for tech transfer to Pilot and GMP facilities.
• Act as subject matter expert (SME) for CHO cell culture, providing scientific guidance and troubleshooting for internal and external teams.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through transparent communication and scientific excellence.
• Design, optimize, and implement robust scale‑down and scale‑up models.
• Author and review high‑quality documentation, including study plans and development reports.
• Support training activities and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, workflow optimization, and best‑practice implementation.
