Job summary

Lightium AG is seeking a Photonics System Architect to lead system-level design for our proprietary thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) platform. You will work with customers and partners to translate requirements into robust architectures and reference designs from concept to schematic and layout.

You will employ state-of-the-art requirements-tracking tools and drive simulations to ensure first-time-right, high-speed electro-optical PICs.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a related field.
• 5+ years of RF and optical system design experience in integrated photonics (PICs).
• ISO-compliant requirements management experience.
• Prior experience with TFLN, silicon photonics, SiN, InP or related platforms including microwave photonics is mandatory.
• Familiarity with IEEE standards (e.g., 802.3ba et al.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design optical on-chip communication systems based on customer requirements across coherent, IMDD, quantum, RoF, and PON spaces.
• Define system-level specifications and derive block-level specs; drive schematic design and layout using state-of-the-art EDA tools.
• Interface with drivers, TIA suppliers, OSATs, DSP partners, and customers; manage relationships.
• Benchmark requirements management tools and train peers in system engineering processes.
• Collaborate with R&D from design to optical testing; travel to customer sites as needed.
• Document findings and establish standard operating procedures; contribute to IP portfolio.
