Position Overview
The Accountant – Reporting, Controlling & Process Improvement will support the integrity, timeliness, and development of the Group’s accounting and financial reporting environment. The role combines hands‑on accounting under Swiss GAAP FER with monthly closing, reporting and controlling support, multi‑jurisdictional reconciliations, consolidation, first‑time IFRS implementation, systems transformation, and process improvement. Working closely with Head of Finance, local accounting teams, auditors, advisers, and operational stakeholders, the successful candidate will maintain robust documentation, strengthen controls, and help deliver scalable finance processes across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Monthly Close
- Prepare and post manual accounting entries in accordance with Swiss GAAP SCO and the Group’s accounting policies.
- Maintain the chart of accounts, including account creation, mapping, governance, and periodic review.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring that deadlines, responsibilities, and dependencies are clearly managed.
- Maintain and continuously improve close checklists, supporting schedules, approval evidence, and accounting documentation.
- Perform balance‑sheet and profit‑and‑loss reviews, investigate variances, and ensure that reconciling items are resolved promptly.
Reporting, Controlling, and Reconciliations
- Support monthly management reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and controlling activities.
- Support the preparation and ongoing development of liquidity dashboards, including cash‑position monitoring, short‑term liquidity forecasting, and clear reporting of key movements and funding requirements.
- Reconcile monthly risk‑management figures to accounting records, investigate differences, and document conclusions and adjustments.
- Maintain clear audit trails and supporting documentation for key reconciliations, estimates, judgements, and reporting adjustments.
- Prepare variance analyses and provide reliable explanations of movements in financial performance and balance‑sheet positions.
- Work with trading, risk, operations, and finance stakeholders to improve the consistency and transparency of financial data.
Consolidation and Accounting Standards
- Support Group consolidation under Swiss GAAP FER, including reporting‑package review, intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and consolidation adjustments.
- Support the transition of the Group consolidation framework from Swiss GAAP FER to IFRS.
- Contribute to the first‑time implementation of IFRS, including data gathering, technical accounting support, opening‑balance‑sheet preparation, documentation, and audit coordination.
- Prepare and maintain accounting bridges between local reporting frameworks and Group standards across multiple jurisdictions, including US GAAP, Swiss GAAP FER, Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, and IFRS.
- Document material accounting‑policy differences, conversion adjustments, assumptions, and recurring consolidation treatments.
Support in Systems Transformation and Process Improvement
- Support the rollout of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and the migration from the existing Progel accounting system.
- Assist with data cleansing, chart‑of‑accounts mapping, master‑data preparation, opening‑balance migration, configuration review, user acceptance testing, and go‑live readiness.
- Validate migrated data and key finance processes, document issues, and coordinate remediation with implementation partners and internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to standardize, automate, and strengthen accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and closing processes.
- Develop and maintain clear process maps, procedures, templates, and user guidance to support consistent adoption across jurisdictions.
Support in Internal Controls, Governance, and Audit Support
- Support the development, rollout, and maintenance of the Internal Control Matrix across the organisation.
- Assist process owners in defining key risks, controls, evidence requirements, ownership, and testing frequency.
- Monitor control completion, follow up on deficiencies, and support the implementation of remediation actions.
- Ensure that accounting processes and controls are appropriately documented and consistently applied across entities.
- Support the documentation and maintenance of tax requirements across different jurisdictions, coordinating with local advisers and internal stakeholders to keep obligations, filing requirements, responsibilities, and supporting evidence clear and current.
- Support internal and external audits by providing complete, accurate, and well‑organised documentation.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance.
- Qualified Swiss CPA, actively pursuing Swiss CPA certification, or an equivalent professional qualification with strong Swiss GAAP FER expertise and/or Swiss Code of Obligations.
- ACCA qualification or active progression toward ACCA is an advantage.
- Strong practical experience with Swiss GAAP FER / Swiss Co, including manual journal entries, month‑end closing, reporting, and consolidation.
- Experience with IFRS implementation or conversion projects and a sound understanding of IFRS reporting requirements.
- Experience reconciling accounting data with risk, trading, operational, or management‑reporting information.
- Experience preparing accounting bridges across multiple local GAAP frameworks, ideally including US GAAP and Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, UK, Dubai and other for consolidation purposes.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance; experience with ERP migration or finance‑transformation projects is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, documentation discipline, and commitment to meeting closing deadlines.
- Clear professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effective across functions and jurisdictions.
- Big 4 experience, a plus
- Language: fluent in English, and French preferred.
