Elasticsearch B.V. in Switzerland seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Distributed Systems team, focusing on how Elasticsearch provides scale, performance, and resilience, especially for the Serverless offering.

You will tackle deep distributed systems challenges in node communication, indexing, allocation, and data management across nodes. You will own end-to-end development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and push the boundaries of shard and node scalability

Qualifications

• Strong background in distributed systems and consensus algorithms.
• Deep Java knowledge including concurrency utilities.
• Ability to reason about data structures and complex algorithms.
• Experience with multi-machine deployments and debugging.
• Proven track record of end-to-end ownership.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core pieces of serverless Elasticsearch at scale.
• Improve components for concurrent and consistent indexing across machines.
• Maintain cluster coordination to keep performance with dynamic nodes.
• Push shard/node scalability towards multi-petabyte data.
• Diagnose performance and concurrency issues and propose fixes.
• Support engineering with harder problems and run end-to-end investigations.
• Own projects from design through delivery with cross-team collaboration.
