You will design, implement and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot, building scalable microservices for global operations.

The role emphasizes event-driven architectures with Kafka, cloud-native development on Azure, Kubernetes deployments and strong testing and CI/CD practices.

Senior Java Engineer – Banking Platform (Hybrid)

Job description:

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Develop event-driven services and integrations using Apache Kafka.
• Translate business and non-functional requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Contribute to solution design and architectural decisions.
• Apply clean-code principles, design patterns, code reviews and test-driven development.
• Build and maintain automated tests using JUnit, Mockito and related frameworks.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments using Kubernetes.
• Monitor application performance and reliability using observability tools such as Grafana.
• Apply authentication, authorisation and secure-development principles.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across Zurich and Singapore.
• Participate in the team’s on-call rota.

About the customer:

The platform provides a central source of sales relationships and client intelligence, connecting multiple upstream systems with critical sales and business applications. You will play a senior, hands‑on role in designing and delivering a scalable, resilient and secure platform supporting global business operations.

Requirements:

• Extensive professional Java development experience, including core Java and enterprise application development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Advanced knowledge of concurrent and multithreaded programming.
• Demonstrable experience designing and delivering scalable, highly available or mission‑critical systems.
• Strong experience with microservices and distributed‑system design.
• Practical experience with event‑driven architecture and Apache Kafka.
• Experience with cloud‑native application development; Microsoft Azure is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes, containerised deployment and DevOps practices.
• Strong automated‑testing experience, ideally including TDD, JUnit and Mockito.
• Understanding of CI/CD, monitoring, observability and production support.
• Knowledge of application security, authentication and authorisation.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
• Proactive, collaborative and solution‑focused approach.
• Business‑fluent English.
