TalentCloud Group is seeking a Lead Java Software Engineer in Bern with hybrid work options. You will lead a small team while staying actively involved in hands-on Java development, focusing on Java, Spring Boot, and modern full-stack technologies.

You will influence architecture, security, and development standards as part of a digital transformation programme. The role combines leadership with technical excellence, enabling you to guide product configuration, CRM, and other core applications

Are you an experienced Java Software Engineer with Lead experience or who is ready to take the next step into leadership—without giving up hands‑on development?

I'm currently supporting a Swiss market‑leading industrial technology company with a global presence in over 70 countries in their search for a Lead Java Software Engineer to help shape the future of their business‑critical application landscape.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining software engineering, leadership, architecture and business collaboration, while remaining actively involved in development.

You will join a financially stable Swiss engineering company that develops highly innovative products used around the world.

The business is entering an exciting phase of digital transformation, investing heavily in modernising a number of core applications and preparing for a major technology evolution over the coming years.

You will have genuine influence over technical decisions, architecture and the future direction of the application landscape.

What you will be doing

Leading and technically mentoring a small team of experienced software engineers (4–5 people)

Remaining highly hands‑on (around 60–70%) developing modern Java applications

Designing and building new functionality using:

• Java
• Spring Boot
• Modern Full Stack technologies

Driving the evolution of business‑critical applications including:

• Product Configuration
• Sales Applications
• CRM
• Customer Portals
• Internal Business Systems

Working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

Helping modernise legacy applications while preparing the organisation for future platform transformation

Influencing software architecture, integration strategy, application security and development standards

What we're looking for

Strong Java development experience

Excellent Spring Boot knowledge

Experience building modern web applications

Solid understanding of:

• Software Architecture
• System Integration
• CI/CD
• Secure Coding
• Application Security

Experience working with complex business applications

Fluent German (C1+) and good English

Nice to have

Experience working with systems such as:

• ERP
• CPQ
• Product Configurators
• PLM
• Manufacturing or Industrial Software

Leadership experience is beneficial—but not essential.
