Job summary

RIVR, an Amazon company, seeks a Senior Electronics Engineer – Functional Safety to own hardware-level safety design for custom electronics in delivery robots. You will design fault-tolerant circuits, implement diagnostics, and perform FMEDA to substantiate SIL targets.

This hands-on role requires cross-functional collaboration with firmware, mechanics, and systems teams. The ideal candidate has a master’s in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in functional safety hardware, proven SIL2/3

Qualifications

5+ years designing electronics hardware for Functional Safety–certified products.
Proven work under IEC 61508, ISO 13849, or ISO 26262.
PCB-level hardware delivering SIL 2/3 (or equivalent PL d/e).
Background in analog, power, and/or mixed-signal design.
Hands‑on experience implementing safety architectures in schematics.

Responsibilities

Design fault-tolerant circuits for safety-critical subsystems with appropriate SIL targets.
Implement hardware diagnostics and monitoring to detect dangerous failures.
Enforce defined safe state on fault detection and apply Common-Cause Failure mitigation.
Perform FMEDA and compute SIL metrics to verify designs meet targets.
Advise system architects on hardware safety constraints and review PCB layouts.
Collaborate with electronics, firmware, and systems teams to integrate safety features.
