In this senior role, you will act as the Engineering and Maintenance lead for capital-investment projects involving the construction, commissioning and qualification of Ibex biopharmaceutical facilities. You will provide the engineering, qualification, utilities and maintenance input required to ensure the future facilities are operationally ready, reliable and aligned with site-wide standards.
Acting as the future Head of Plant Engineering during the initial project phases, you will lead cross-functional teams and serve as the key interface between investment engineering and operations.
- Act as the Engineering and Maintenance expert for capital-investment projects involving the construction and commissioning of Ibex biopharmaceutical facilities.
- Support feasibility studies and the conceptual and basic design phases as the future Head of Plant Engineering for the new facilities.
- Serve as the primary interface between the investment-engineering organization—including Global Engineering and external contractors—and operations.
- Provide the operational input and requirements needed for the design and implementation of utility systems.
- Define and deliver requirements for engineering and qualification tools used during construction, commissioning and qualification.
- Establish equipment-standardization requirements, pipe classes, qualification approaches and maintenance concepts.
- Implement maintenance strategies, standards and processes in alignment with the wider Visp site.
- Promote cost-effective preventive and predictive maintenance approaches to ensure long-term equipment reliability.
- Collaborate with Operations leadership to define the future operating organization and associated headcount ramp-up plans.
- Raise the level of ambition in facility design by incorporating innovation, operational improvements and solutions that optimize manufacturing and maintenance costs.
- Bring an operational and process-focused perspective to engineering and facility-design decisions.
- Support GMP and safety risk assessments, contributing technical expertise to risk analyses and mitigation measures.
- Advise future production and project teams on plant engineering, maintenance and utility-related matters.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure clear communication across cross-functional teams.
- Contribute as a member of the Ibex Plant Engineering Leadership Team, representing all engineering and maintenance matters within the assigned area.
- Promote an open, collaborative and improvement-focused culture by supporting change, new ideas, teamwork and continuous improvement across organizational boundaries.
Requirements
- BSc in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation or a related technical discipline.
- Fluency in both English and German.
- Extensive engineering and maintenance experience within a biopharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading complex capital-investment, engineering, maintenance, commissioning or facility-readiness initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of plant engineering, utility systems, equipment maintenance and qualification processes.
- Experience contributing to feasibility studies and conceptual or basic facility design.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into practical engineering and maintenance solutions.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to establish accountability, drive performance and align priorities with business objectives.
- Recognized technical expertise combined with a sound understanding of operational, business and financial processes.
- Structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach to decision-making.
- Ability to work effectively in ambiguous project environments, manage competing priorities and escalate issues appropriately.

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification would be an advantage.
