Job summary

Experis in Zurich is seeking a senior data engineering contractor to design, develop and maintain data pipelines and backend services for real-time decisioning, reporting and data collection. The role requires strong expertise in ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and cloud data technologies.

You will work with Python/Scala, SQL, Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake and event-driven architectures, ensuring data governance and security across platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in ETL/ELT, data warehousing, BI, and data pipeline tools.
• 5+ years building end-to-end data systems using Python, Scala, or similar.
• Strong SQL for data analysis, issue investigation, and root-cause design.
• Experience with cloud data tech, preferably Azure, in CI/CD environments.
• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Spark Streaming, and Delta Lake.
• Hands-on with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across databases and warehouses.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Lake and Blob Storage.
• Good data modeling knowledge; Data Vault a plus.
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Event Hubs, Flink).
• Experience with containerised microservices (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm).
• Knowledge of dbt and BI tools.
• Excellent communication and ability to lead other developers.
• Swiss work permit availability or EU citizen status required.
• Location: Zurich, 12-month contract with possible extension.
