Senior Cutover Manager
INSUS Switzerland | Senior Consulting Opportunity
About the Role:

INSUS is looking for an experienced Senior Cutover & Data Migration Lead to take ownership of cutover planning, migration coordination, and execution readiness within a complex banking transformation programme.

In this senior role, you will lead the end-to-end cutover coordination across business, application, data migration, infrastructure, and technology teams. You will ensure that migration activities are fully aligned, dependencies are managed proactively, and production transitions are executed in a controlled and predictable manner.

You will act as a key point of contact for programme leadership, providing clear visibility of readiness, risks, critical decisions, and execution progress.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Own and lead the integrated cutover strategy and execution plan, including detailed runbooks, milestones, responsibilities, dependencies, prerequisites, and completion criteria.
  • Lead cross-functional cutover planning and coordination across application, business, data migration, testing, infrastructure, and external delivery teams.
  • Oversee the alignment of data extraction, transformation, loading, validation, and reconciliation activities with the overall migration and cutover strategy.
  • Drive end-to-end readiness assessments covering applications, interfaces, environments, infrastructure, access, scheduling, and resource availability.
  • Identify and manage critical dependencies, execution risks, and potential bottlenecks to ensure activities remain within agreed cutover windows.
  • Lead cutover rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and production execution coordination, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into subsequent plans.
  • Coordinate command centre activities during critical execution phases, maintaining clear communication, progress tracking, issue resolution, and escalation procedures.
  • Consolidate readiness evidence, risks, and stakeholder approvals, providing recommendations to programme leadership for go/no-go decisions.
  • Oversee Operational Start-up Checks, business validations, and post-migration reconciliation to confirm successful transition.
  • Establish clear cutover governance, reporting, escalation mechanisms, and execution controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement of runbooks, execution timelines, and operational procedures throughout successive migration waves.
  • Ensure a structured transition from cutover execution into hypercare, business-as-usual operations, and support teams.
What You Bring:
  • Essential: Strong hands-on data migration experience within banking or another highly complex, regulated organisation, including migration preparation, execution, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Significant experience leading cutover activities, migration workstreams, release coordination, or complex technology transitions.
  • Proven involvement in large-scale migration rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
  • Strong understanding of application dependencies and the sequencing of technical, data, infrastructure, and business activities.
  • Experience coordinating multiple delivery teams and stakeholders across complex technology environments.
  • Ability to manage execution risks, resolve cross-team dependencies, and drive decisions under tight timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior project and programme leadership.
  • Experience establishing structured cutover governance, readiness reporting, escalation procedures, and decision-making processes.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on delivery quality and execution discipline.
  • A proactive, accountable leadership style and the ability to remain calm and decisive during business-critical migration activities.
  • Flexibility to support planned evening and weekend activities during rehearsals and production cutovers.
What Would Be an Advantage:
  • Experience with core banking platforms such as Avaloq or Temenos T24.
  • Previous involvement in major banking transformation, core banking replacement, or multi-wave migration programmes.
  • Experience leading integrated cutover activities across multiple applications, business units, and technology platforms.
  • Familiarity with command centre leadership, go/no-go governance, and executive readiness reporting.
  • Experience coordinating external technology vendors and geographically distributed delivery teams.
