Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Application Engineer to join their team in their Zurich office. This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong Python and Azure skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience building scalable backend services in a data-driven environment. Key Responsibilities:
• Understand business requirements and convert them into technical specifications
• Hands-on coding in Python and PySpark
• Oversee the end-to-end application architecture
• Design and build business services that generate financial data from various sources
• Ensure implementation of both functional and non-functional requirements with a high level of test automation
• Coach junior team members and conduct peer reviews
• Coordinate follow-up activities and maintain timely communication with stakeholders
• Apply Agile Scrum and DevOps best practices
• Support operations during quarterly closing cycles

Skills & Experience:
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable backend applications
• Proficient in Python, PySpark, and SQL
• Strong experience with Azure services including Databricks, Data Factory, and Data Lake
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Proficiency in test-driven development and modern CI/CD practices
• Strong analytical mindset and commitment to quality and timely delivery
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Previous experience in financial, accounting, or reporting systems is a plus
