Job summary

Mercuria is seeking a Senior Analyst or Associate to join the Investment Team in Geneva. The role is hands-on and covers the analytical engine behind new transactions, including models, due diligence, and reporting to support investments across the commodity space.

The successful candidate will work with a small team of industry professionals, handling end-to-end transaction analysis and understanding commercial logic behind deals. Strong technical foundations are essential.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, or infrastructure investing.
• Excellent financial modelling and accounting skills; ability to build complex models from scratch.
• Strong written work product and ability to turn evidence into concise investment papers.
• Bachelor's degree; CFA, ACA, CPA or equivalent welcome but not required.
• Comfortable in a lean team with shifting priorities and direct access to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and own detailed financial, valuation and commodity price models including scenario and sensitivity work.
• Conduct market, asset and counterparty due diligence with focus on supply and demand fundamentals and risks.
• Draft investment committee papers, memoranda, teasers and board materials with a clear investment case.
• Support deal execution from first screen to closing, coordinating data rooms and advisers.
• Monitor portfolio assets with quarterly performance reporting and liquidity analysis.
• Collaborate with trading desks, risk, treasury, legal and tax to understand deal mechanics.
