Job summary

Fortil is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead AI initiatives across engineering and business processes in Switzerland. You will design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions, including LLM-based applications and RAG architectures, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to productionize AI capabilities.

You will guide AI adoption, ensure security and governance, and translate business needs into technical roadmaps. Fluent English is required and Swiss/EU citizenship is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional experience in AI, ML, or software engineering.
• Strong experience with Python development.
• Proven experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Experience designing and implementing RAG architectures.
• Strong understanding of ML and DL principles.
• Experience integrating AI solutions into enterprise environments.
• Experience working with APIs and software integration.
• Knowledge of modern software architecture principles.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development environments.
• Experience evaluating AI technologies and defining technical roadmaps.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into AI solutions.
• Fluent English.
• Swiss or EU citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies across engineering and business processes.
• Design, develop and deploy AI-powered applications and services.
• Implement solutions based on Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Design and develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Develop AI Agents and intelligent automation solutions.
• Build proof-of-concepts and transform them into production-ready solutions.
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing software ecosystems and engineering tools.
• Develop interfaces with enterprise systems, databases and knowledge repositories.
• Define AI solution architectures aligned with business and technical objectives.
• Evaluate and select relevant AI technologies and frameworks.
• Support software engineering teams in adopting AI best practices.
• Establish validation and performance assessment methodologies for AI solutions.
• Ensure cybersecurity, confidentiality and data protection constraints are respected.
• Contribute to AI governance and responsible AI practices.
• Monitor technological trends and assess applicability.
• Collaborate with software, systems and business stakeholders.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
• Support deployment and maintenance of AI solutions in production environments.
• Act as a technical reference for AI topics.
