Actalent is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist - Agentic AI to join our Basel-based Data Management and Data Sciences team. You will design and deploy autonomous AI agents and multi-agent systems to accelerate clinical data processing, improve data quality, and support regulatory-compliant decision-making.

Responsibilities include building agentic AI workflows with LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar tools, implementing HITL processes, and deploying in a cloud environment (AWS).

Our client, a global leader in the life sciences sector, is looking for a Senior Technical Specialist - Agentic AI to join their Data Management and Data Sciences organization in Basel. In this role, you will help drive the next generation of clinical data innovation by designing and deploying autonomous AI agents and multi-agent systems that accelerate clinical trial data processing, improve data quality, and support regulatory-compliant decision-making.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced AI and software engineering professional to work at the intersection of advanced AI orchestration, cloud technologies, and highly regulated scientific environments. You will contribute to building scalable, cutting-edge solutions that enable faster delivery of critical medicines to patients worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy agentic AI workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar technologies to automate complex clinical data management processes.
• Build and maintain multi-agent systems where specialized AI agents collaborate to solve end-to-end clinical data challenges.
• Apply advanced prompt engineering techniques, including Chain-of-Thought, ReAct, and Reflection, to ensure reliable and high-quality outputs.
• Develop scalable applications and data pipelines that collect, process, and prepare scientific data within a cloud-based environment (AWS).
• Deploy and maintain AI solutions using modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, testing, and monitoring.Collaborate closely with Data Integrity, Quality, and Data Management teams to ensure AI-driven processes remain traceable, reproducible, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Design and implement robust Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) workflows for complex decision-making in regulated environments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of AI platforms, automation capabilities, and data-driven processes across the organization.

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience delivering AI/ML solutions and 3+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering and data engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python and experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, or similar.
• Proven experience with modern data engineering concepts, including SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Chroma), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Experience deploying AI solutions on AWS and working with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Strong understanding of model reproducibility, validation, interpretability, and governance within regulated environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional fluency in English.
