Sales Intern (Praktikum) – MedTech / Surgical & Interventional Simulation
About SurgeonsLab:
SurgeonsLab is a global MedTech company developing high-fidelity physical and virtual surgical and interventional simulation technologies. Our platforms help hospitals, surgeons, universities, simulation centers, and medical-device companies train clinicians, demonstrate products, and develop new devices. We work at the intersection of medicine, engineering, and advanced simulation, serving customers across Europe, the United States, and international markets.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a motivated Sales Intern who wants real experience in technical B2B sales — not administrative work and spreadsheets nobody reads. You will work alongside our commercial team, learn how complex medical technology is sold to hospitals, universities, and MedTech companies across Europe, and take on genuine responsibility from the start. You will research accounts, build prospect lists, join customer calls and demonstrations, and help move real opportunities forward. No medical or MedTech background is required. We will teach you the product, the anatomy, and the clinical context. We need curiosity, a strong work ethic, and the willingness to pick up the phone. This is a paid internship with the potential to lead to a permanent Sales role for the right performer.
What You'll Do
- Research hospitals, universities, simulation centers, and MedTech companies across Europe to identify potential customers
- Build and maintain prospect lists and target-account research
- Support outbound prospecting by email, phone, and LinkedIn under the guidance of the sales team
- Help qualify inbound enquiries and route them to the right person
- Keep CRM records accurate: contacts, activities, notes, and next steps
- Prepare materials for customer meetings, product demonstrations, and proposals
- Join customer calls, demonstrations, and site visits to observe and learn the sales process
- Help prepare for and support conferences, workshops, and customer events, including equipment setup
- Gather competitive and market information and share what you find with the team
- Assist with follow-up after meetings and events
What You'll Learn
- How structured B2B sales methodologies work in practice (MEDDIC, SPIN, Consultative Selling)
- How to run discovery, ask good questions, and uncover what a customer actually needs
- How to sell technically complex products to clinical, technical, and executive audiences
- How European hospitals, universities, and MedTech companies evaluate and buy technology
- How to work across different markets, languages, and business cultures
- How to use a CRM properly and manage a pipeline
- The fundamentals of surgical and interventional simulation technology
Languages:
Excellent professional English is required. Professional working proficiency in German and/or French is a strong advantage given our Basel location and European customer base. Italian, Spanish, or Dutch are also valued. You should be comfortable writing professional emails and speaking with customers in at least one language besides English.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor's or Master's programme — Business, Marketing, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Economics, Communications, or a related field. Strong candidates from other fields are welcome.
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Comfortable speaking with people you don't know, including on the phone
- Genuinely curious, with the ability to learn technical information quickly
- Organised, detail-oriented, and reliable with follow-up
- Proactive — you ask questions, take initiative, and don't wait to be told what to do
- Able to work 100% onsite in Basel for the full internship period
- Eligible to work in Switzerland (see Work Authorisation below)
Nice to Have
- Any prior sales, retail, customer service, fundraising, or cold-outreach experience
- Familiarity with a CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
- Interest in healthcare, medical technology, or engineering
- Additional European languages
- Driving licence
Onsite Requirement:
This internship is 100% onsite in Basel. It is not a remote or hybrid role. Sales is learned by being in the room — hearing live calls, watching demonstrations, and getting real-time coaching. Please apply only if you can commit to being in the office for the full internship period.
Duration & Schedule
- Duration: [e.g., 6 months / 12 months] — flexible for the right candidate
- Start date: As soon as possible/immediate
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for conferences and customer events
Compensation & Conditions
- Paid internship: CHF gross per month per industry standards
- Swiss social insurance contributions and employment conditions in accordance with applicable law and company policy
- Holiday entitlement pro rata in accordance with Swiss law and company policy
- Travel expenses according to company policy
- Company equipment and tools needed for the role
- Direct mentorship from our commercial leadership
- Exposure to surgeons, hospitals, universities, and global MedTech companies
- A written internship certificate (Arbeitszeugnis) at the end of the internship
- Academic credit and university internship agreements supported where your programme requires it
- Potential to move into a permanent Sales role based on performance and business needs
Work Authorisation:
- Swiss nationals and EU/EFTA nationals
- Candidates already holding a valid Swiss permit allowing them to work (including students holding a permit that allows employment)
- Eligible cross-border candidates residing in neighbouring France or Germany who may work under the Swiss G cross-border permit framework
SurgeonsLab cannot sponsor work permits for non-EU/EFTA candidates for this internship. We will assess other situations individually in accordance with Swiss requirements.

- Onsite interview in Basel with the commercial team, including a short practical exercise (for example, researching a target account or a brief mock outreach)
- Offer
Why This Internship?
Most sales internships teach you how to update a spreadsheet. This one teaches you how to sell something genuinely difficult — advanced medical technology — to demanding, highly qualified customers across Europe. You will learn faster here in a few months than in a year at a large company, because there is nowhere to hide on a small team.
- If you want to build a career in sales and you learn fast, we would like to hear from you.
