Job summary

RIVR, part of Amazon, seeks a Technical Lead – Testing Engineer to own the testing strategy for advanced robotic systems. You will lead a team of test engineers, design test benches, automate data pipelines, and translate measurements into decisions shaping our products.

You will mentor engineers, drive process maturity, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems teams to elevate testing standards for hardware validation across structural, mechatronic, and sensing

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
• 7+ years in hardware testing or validation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior contributor role.
• Experience designing and commissioning test benches for electro-mechanical systems or consumer electronics with power and motion elements.
• Strong Python for test automation, device control, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of sensors and instrumentation — torque cells, encoders, load cells, thermocouples, strain gauges, calibration requirements.
• Ability to turn test data into clear engineering insights that influence design decisions.
• Experience developing and reviewing test plans, test cases, and qualification criteria.
• Hands-on workshop work with common tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end test strategy for structural, mechatronic, and sensing subsystems, aligned with product milestones.
• Establish testing standards, processes, and best practices across the team, including templates and data workflows.
• Decide on test infrastructure investments in instrumentation, automation, and data pipelines.
• Improve test coverage, efficiency, and predictive capability.
• Design and operate test benches for mechatronics systems, including fixtures and instrumentation layout.
• Calibrate sensors and load cells with understanding of error influences.
• Develop automation scripts (Python, LabVIEW) to control test hardware and run tests.
• Analyze test data to extract meaningful performance metrics.
• Compile structured test reports, compare to specs, and derive engineering learnings.
