Laelaps AI Ltd. in Zurich is seeking a Software Engineer on Robot Autonomy to own state estimation for our robots.

You will fuse IMU, camera, LiDAR, GNSS data into real-time estimates used for reliable autonomous behavior across platforms. We value pragmatic engineering: choose estimation methods that work on real robots, handle sensor dropouts, calibration errors, and challenging conditions to keep performance high in the field.

Qualifikationen

• Masters or PhD in mechanical/computer/electrical engineering, robotics, or related field.
• Proven experience in state estimation, localization, or odometry for robots.
• Strong C++ and Python skills; ROS 2 experience required.

Aufgaben

• Design and ship real-time estimators for position, orientation, velocity, and angular velocity across robot platforms.
• Fuse data from multiple sensors, handling noise, asynchronous measurements, calibration errors, changing sensor quality, and dropouts.
• Develop estimation approaches for different platforms with reusable components and interfaces.
• Improve localization and odometry in GNSS-denied environments and degraded sensing situations.
• Integrate state estimation with perception, planning, and control for reliable downstream data.
• Investigate failures using logs, datasets, simulation, and field tests to verify fixes.
• Build evaluation and testing workflows ensuring measurable performance across robots and conditions.
• Collaborate with Robot Autonomy and forward-deployed engineers to turn deployment feedback into improvements.
