Job summary

Laelaps AI in Zürich, Switzerland, is hiring a Software Engineer for Robot Autonomy. You will shape navigation, perception integration, and route planning across real customer sites, ensuring dependable performance from day one.

You will work with a strong founding team, travel to customer sites, and contribute to end-to-end autonomy features for field deployments in varied weather and environments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in robotics, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record deploying navigation on ground mobile robots in real world (3+ years).
• Hands-on experience with mobile robot navigation and path planning: route/local planning, obstacle avoidance, costmaps or recovery behaviors.
• Strong ROS 2, C++, and Python skills; ability to diagnose planning vs map vs state issues.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement navigation and path-planning components for robot autonomy.
• Integrate sensors and ground segmentation to improve traversability estimates.
• Predict dynamic agents movement and plan safe, efficient routes around them.
• Validate navigation on real robots with logs, visualization, and field tests.
• Collaborate with engineers building operator apps and backend for end-to-end solutions.
