Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer (Edge - Devices & Mobile) based in Switzerland to design, build, and scale a cross-platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux, and macOS. You’ll own critical infrastructure, from lifecycle management and networking to updates across diverse hardware environments.

You’ll expand to Android with NDK/JNI, integrate Cronet and C++ networking, and ensure safe FFI across languages.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Rust development in production.
• Experience on Windows, Android, Linux; cross-platform Rust.
• Strong OS internals, processes, and constraints knowledge.
• Hands-on FFI with C/C++ and JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP, TLS, HTTP; inspect traffic.
• Async networking in Rust (Tokio/Tonic) and observability.
• Excellent English communication; remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux, and macOS.
• Manage lifecycles, background execution, networking, and updates across devices.
• Lead Android expansion with NDK and JNI, including foreground services.
• Integrate native networking tech and browserless HTTP clients into Rust libraries.
• Work with OS APIs and FFI ensuring safe memory and cross-language interoperability.
• Collect signals like TCP/TLS/HTTP to improve network realism.
• Develop device observability and performance metrics.
• Expand platform capabilities while maintaining security boundaries.
• Participate in on-call rotations, post-mortems, and deployment improvements.
• Contribute to documentation, architectural design, and engineering standards.
