Job summary

Trasteel is seeking a highly capable engineer to build the trading system behind our intraday power activity. You will develop exchange connectivity, real-time market data ingestion, and execution and risk tooling used by traders and researchers daily.

You will join a small team where your work goes into production quickly and directly impacts trading performance. This is a full-time role based in Lugano, Switzerland, with a strong focus on robust, scalable software for a fast-moving market.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related field.
• Experience building and operating production trading systems, ideally in power or commodities markets.
• Comfort with exchange APIs and streaming protocols (WebSockets, REST); familiarity with EPEX M7, GME, or Nord Pool is a plus.
• Excellent Rust and Python skills.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: testing, CI, version control, code review, observability, and clean design.

Responsibilities

• Design and build mission-critical intraday trading systems: exchange connectivity, market data ingestion, order execution, and risk tooling.
• Operate and harden production systems, monitoring, alerting, and incident response, focusing on stability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with traders and researchers to turn strategy ideas into reliable, automated execution.
• Continuously improve the trading stack as markets, exchanges, and strategies evolve.
