Job summary

MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières) in Geneva seeks an Emergency Human Resources Coordinator to join the Emergency Pool. You will deploy rapidly (within 48 hours) and adapt HR roles to operational needs, supporting mission planning, HR policy design, and recruitment in crisis contexts.

The role requires experience in HR management in the field, with MSF, and ability to coordinate across medical and support teams in high-stress environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in HR management in the field with MSF, exposure to emergency contexts.
• At least one field experience with MSF in HR coordination (HR Coordinator or Deputy HR Coordinator).
• Ability to quickly evaluate an emergency on the ground and propose an adapted HR strategy.
• Experience in Finance management is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic partner to Operations by contributing to mission planning and execution.
• Define, adapt, and oversee the implementation of human resources policies for emergency interventions.
• Ensure MSF operates as a responsible employer within the mission and oversee HR, admin, and legal matters.
• Coordinate urgent recruitment of HR and ensure timely deployment of critical staff with the E-Cell HR Referent.
• Monitor working conditions and staff wellbeing, coordinating psychosocial support with medical staff.
• Design, recruit and train HR teams at coordination and project level.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness and surge capacity planning for HR risks.
