Job summary

Accelleron is seeking an innovative R&D Engineer to advance compressors and turbines for turbocharger applications. You will own components within the Compressor & Turbine team, handling aerodynamic and mechanical design from pre-engineering to product maintenance and manufacturing support.

The role requires 5+ years in compressor/turbine development, strong turbomachinery knowledge, and proficiency in CFD/FEA, Python, and MATLAB. English fluency is required; German learning is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years in compressor or turbine development.
• Strong turbomachinery knowledge.
• Experience with CFD and FEA tools.
• Programming in Python and MATLAB.
• Experience with testing and validation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; willing to learn German.

We are looking for an innovative R&D Engineer to strengthen our efforts to develop industry-leading compressors and turbines for turbocharger applications. The successful candidate will act as a component owner within the Compressor & Turbine team and will be responsible for both aerodynamic and mechanical design, from pre-engineering and product development through to product maintenance and manufacturing support.

Your responsibilities

• Design compressors and turbines, taking into account aerothermodynamics, mechanical integrity, and materials.
• Be responsible for product validation and qualification.
• Support advanced concept studies.
• Contribute to shaping the technology roadmap.
• Act as an internal point of contact for all product lines.
• Coordinate with internal and external test facilities on testing and validation activities.

Your background

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of experience in compressor or turbine development.
• Solid understanding of turbomachinery.
• Strong background in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical integrity.
• Experience with 3D CFD tools and finite element analysis (FEA/FEM).
• Sound programming knowledge in Python and MATLAB.
• Familiarity with compressor or turbine testing and validation.
• Open-mindedness and strong interpersonal skills.
• Proven track record in compressor or turbine design, e.g., through patents or publications.
• Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of self-organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluency in English.
• Willingness to learn German.
