Zusammenfassung

Oerlikon is seeking an Intern for Automation Cutting Tools (R&D) to contribute to the development of automated cutting tests and wear analysis systems. You will work with experienced engineers in a multidisciplinary environment, gaining hands-on experience across hardware, software and image analysis.

The role focuses on automating machining tests, developing wear-detection algorithms, and integrating image analysis with existing platforms.

Qualifikationen

• Studies in Mechanical, Automation or Production Engineering (current enrollment is required – only students).
• Strong interest in experimental mechanics, machine tools, automation, and artificial intelligence.
• Experience in programming is an advantage.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate within multidisciplinary R&D teams.
• Very good English skills, German an advantage.

Aufgaben

• Improve, design, implement, and test hardware and software systems used for the automated execution of cutting tests.
• Enhance system connectivity, reliability, and functionality to expand its range of applications.
• Develop and implement wear detection algorithms for the automated evaluation of microscope images.
• Integrate image analysis solutions with existing hardware and software platforms.
• Support the design and execution of machining tests targeting specific wear mechanisms and machining phenomena.
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to the continuous improvement of R&D processes.
