TRX in Visp, Switzerland is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer (HAZOP/LOPA) to lead hazard identification, risk assessments and safety studies for API and bioconjugate manufacturing. The role features a hybrid work setup with remote study prep and on-site workshops, plant walkdowns and design reviews in Visp.

Key responsibilities include facilitating HAZOP/LOPA studies, coordinating study teams, conducting SIL determinations and ensuring ATEX compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years in process safety engineering within chemical, pharmaceutical or fine chemical manufacturing.
• Proven experience leading and facilitating HAZOP and LOPA studies for industrial processes.
• Strong knowledge of process hazard identification, risk assessment methodologies and IPL evaluation.
• Working knowledge of IEC 61511, SIL assessment and safety instrumented systems.
• Familiarity with Swiss and European process safety regulations, ATEX requirements and industry best practices.
• English proficiency required; German language skills advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Plan, facilitate and document HAZOP/HAZID/What-If studies for new processes, modifications and technology transfers.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary study teams, prepare HAZOP nodes and ensure findings and actions are documented.
• Conduct LOPA studies, identifying initiating events, IPLs and risk reduction requirements.
• Evaluate effectiveness and independence of safeguards with evidence.
• Perform SIL determination for safety instrumented functions per IEC 61511.
• Review pressure relief, hazardous area classifications and ATEX compliance.
• Assess reaction hazards, calorimetry and thermal stability with process chemists.
• Translate hazard findings into safe operating limits, controls and mitigations.
• Support safety assessments for energetic reactions and potent compounds.
• Track recommendations through implementation and closure.
• Participate in MOC reviews, incident investigations and PSSR.
• Collaborate with development, engineering, operations and EHS teams.
