ETH Zürich's X-ray Imaging Professorship seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher or Process Engineer to advance MacEtch-based silicon microfabrication for next-generation X-ray optics. The role collaborates with Dr.

Lucia Romano within the SNSF ABSOLUTE project. You will expand MacEtch testing across feature sizes, investigate defect formation, optimize process parameters, and contribute to robust fabrication workflows enabling scalable production of complex silicon microstructures.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience in semiconductor cleanroom environments with photolithography and SEM.
• Desirable experience in silicon etching and MEMS fabrication.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with hands-on approach.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, project-driven setting.

Aufgaben

• Fabricate and process samples on silicon wafers using UV photolithography, thin-film deposition, thermal treatments, and MacEtch.
• Perform structural and dimensional characterization with SEM, optical microscopy, and profilometry.
• Document fabrication procedures and results in a traceable way.
• Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and contribute to project deliverables.
• Present research outcomes at international conferences and internal workshops.
• Disseminate results through high-impact publications and collaborations.
