ETH Zürich’s gta Institute invites three doctoral candidates in History and Theory of Urban Design and Architecture to join the ERC project Co-opolis (1890–1990). The four-year, fully funded positions start March 2027 and contribute to cutting-edge research on welfare regimes and third-sector actors in Europe.

You will work in a highly international research environment, publish articles, participate in workshops and conferences, and develop a PhD dissertation under structured mentoring.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in Architecture, History of Art, Social History or closely related humanities field.
• Experience with publishing and archival/historical research is welcome.
• The working language is English; proficiency in language relevant to the case-study country is required.

Responsabilités

• Complete the PhD dissertation within March 2027–March 2031.
• Contribute to ERC project outputs: workshops, seminars, articles, and international conferences.
• Engage in GTA teaching activities and participate in research discussions.
