ETH Zürich invites applications for a doctoral student to explore how microscopic frictional interactions shape the rheology of dense particle suspensions. The project blends physics-based modeling, simulations, and theoretical analysis with close collaboration to ETH Department of Materials researchers.

You will perform particle-based simulations (coarse-grained molecular dynamics), develop theory, and validate results against experiments.

Qualifikationen

• MSc in a relevant field (mechanics, physics, engineering, materials science) is required.
• Strong programming skills, particularly Python.
• Experience with computational modeling and validation against data.

Aufgaben

• Conduct computational and theoretical studies on particle-scale friction and macroscopic flow.
• Implement and use particle-based simulation methods; verify against experimental datasets.
• Analyze results and collaborate with experimentalists to interpret observations.
