The Hydrology Group at the University of Lausanne invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D. position in Experimental Soil Hydrogeochemistry. The project will examine how vegetation affects soil water fluxes and geochemical reactions, with a focus on drought-related changes in river geochemistry.

The Ph.D. candidate will design and perform experiments at the Unil Ecotron facility, utilizing sensors, a climate chamber, and tracer experiments, with potential collaboration within the DrySpell

Qualifikationen

  • Fully funded Ph.D. position in Experimental Soil Hydrogeochemistry.
  • Start between January and April 2027.

Aufgaben

  • Design and perform experiments at the Unil Ecotron facility to investigate how vegetation regulates soil water fluxes and geochemical reactions.
  • Methods may include analyses of major and trace elements, measurements of vegetation activity, tracer experiments and hydrogeochemical modelling.
  • As climate change increases drought frequency, the project offers opportunities at the interface of hydrology, soil geochemistry, and ecosystem science.
