Zusammenfassung

Université de Lausanne invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in Experimental Soil Hydrogeochemistry within the Hydrology group at IDYST. The candidate will design experiments at the Ecotron facility to study vegetation effects on soil water fluxes and geochemical reactions.

80% of time on PhD research, 20% on teaching assistant duties. Starting 01.01.2027, contract length 1 year with potential extension up to 4 years.

Qualifikationen

  • Background in Environmental Science, Soil Science/Physics, Biogeochemistry, Experimental Ecology, Hydrology, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
  • Previous experience with experimental work.
  • Strong quantitative and data handling skills (e.g. in R or Python).
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset but is not required.

Aufgaben

  • Design and conduct innovative experiments.
  • Operate the Ecotron facility and its sensor network.
  • Lead scientific articles in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Present at international conferences and project meetings in Lausanne and Paris.
  • Approximately one week of fieldwork per year at Mt Lozère (France).
  • Make your research workflow open and reproducible.
  • Discuss research obstacles and seek help in the group.
  • Contribute to creating a collaborative and inclusive culture.
