Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Payment Operations Specialist International based in Switzerland.

Join a fast-growing, international SaaS environment where payment performance directly impacts revenue and business growth. In this role, you will manage and optimize payment operations across multiple subscription-based products, payment service providers, and international markets. You will combine hands‑on operational expertise with strategic thinking to improve payment conversion, reduce transaction costs, and expand payment capabilities globally. Working closely with Payment, Partnerships, Data, Product, and Technology teams, you will help identify new opportunities and turn them into effective payment solutions. You will contribute to market expansion, payment method optimization, and the development of scalable processes across a diverse product portfolio. This is an opportunity to take ownership, influence business performance, and help shape an evolving international payment ecosystem within an autonomous, remote‑first organization.

Accountabilities
  • Payment Operations: Manage daily payment activities, including payment service provider (PSP) accounts, configurations, routing, and subscription billing. Investigate operational incidents by analyzing logs, transaction data, and API calls, and drive issues through to resolution.

  • Payment Method Management: Act as the internal expert on PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and local payment methods. Develop a payment method roadmap for each market, monitor transaction success rates, conversion, and costs, and recommend new solutions to Product teams.

  • International PSP and Acquirer Management: Maintain a strong understanding of PSP and acquiring capabilities across regions, including local acquiring, currencies, tokenization, and alternative payment methods. Monitor industry developments and support partner selection, vendor evaluations, and requests for proposals.

  • Partner Relationship Management: Manage day‑to‑day relationships with selected international PSPs and acquiring partners, ensuring service quality, operational efficiency, and competitive commercial terms.

  • Payment Solution Implementation: Define project requirements, functional specifications, and target processes for new payment solutions. Coordinate implementation with Technology teams and Product squads, overseeing testing, validation, and production deployment.

  • Merchant Account and Market Expansion: Establish standardized procedures for opening new merchant accounts and launching payment capabilities in additional markets. Work with Data teams to build business cases and assess the commercial potential of new market opportunities.

  • Conversion and Revenue Optimization: Identify and implement payment‑related improvements across checkout methods, transaction data shared with banks, authorization rates, and recurring billing. Use performance data and testing results to improve payment acceptance and customer conversion.

  • Cost Optimization: Review, challenge, and negotiate payment‑related fees, contracts, and service costs. Identify opportunities to improve the payment cost structure while maintaining performance and reliability.

  • Documentation and Process Governance: Maintain accurate PSP documentation, account access records, and operational procedures. Develop repeatable processes that support efficient scaling across products and markets.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Risk, Compliance, Data, Product, and Technology teams to align payment initiatives with business priorities, support implementation, and promote knowledge sharing across the organization.

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the payments industry, ideally in a PSP account management, solutions engineering, implementation management, or merchant‑side e‑commerce or SaaS role.

  • Proven hands‑on experience managing PSP accounts and overseeing day‑to‑day payment operations in a commercial environment.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing and customizing payment solutions in collaboration with technical teams, including requirements gathering, functional specifications, testing, and production deployment.

  • Strong knowledge of PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, along with a solid understanding of international PSPs, acquiring partners, and local payment methods.

  • Good technical understanding of payment flows, with the ability to read logs, inspect API calls, investigate transaction issues, and communicate effectively with developers without needing to be a software engineer.

  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with dashboards, payment performance metrics, conversion data, and test results to formulate actionable recommendations.

  • Experience with subscription billing platforms and payment orchestration solutions is an advantage.

  • Exposure to the US market, Latin America, or Asia, as well as experience in a high‑growth scale‑up environment, is considered a plus.

  • Strong commercial awareness and a cost‑optimization mindset, with the ability to challenge pricing structures, negotiate fees, and identify savings opportunities.

  • A balanced strategic and operational approach, with the ability to move between long‑term payment planning and detailed day‑to‑day problem‑solving.

  • Excellent prioritization, decision‑making, and organizational skills, particularly when managing competing demands across multiple products and markets.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams without direct authority and explain complex topics clearly.

  • A proactive, autonomous, and improvement‑oriented mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Fluent French is mandatory, as it is the primary business language. English proficiency at B2 level or above is required and will be assessed during recruitment. Strong professional English is a significant advantage due to daily interactions with international providers and acquiring partners.

  • Availability to start as soon as possible is preferred, although a notice period of up to three months can be accommodated.

Benefits
  • Remote-First Flexibility: Work remotely from anywhere in Europe, with the option of a hybrid arrangement in Lausanne.

  • International Remote Work: Opportunity to work remotely from a different time zone for up to one month, offering flexibility and a change of environment.

  • Flexible Working Hours: Organize your schedule autonomously, with an emphasis on trust, personal responsibility, and work‑life balance.

  • Tailored Time Off: Flexible vacation arrangements that allow you to take the time you need to recharge and manage your leave responsibly.

  • Meaningful Business Impact: Help shape the payment strategy, optimize revenue conversion, and support international expansion across multiple SaaS products.

  • Professional Growth: Develop your expertise across payment operations, international acquiring, payment technologies, commercial negotiations, and market expansion.

  • Autonomy and Ownership: Work in a fast‑growing environment where initiative is encouraged, decisions are made quickly, and employees can directly influence processes and business outcomes.

  • Collaborative Team Culture: Join a distributed, international team that values accountability, continuous learning, innovation, and constructive collaboration.

  • Team Gatherings: Participate in two company‑wide seminars each year, typically held in spring and autumn, to connect with colleagues and exchange ideas.

  • Lausanne Office Perks: For employees choosing the hybrid option, access to modern office facilities, sports amenities, parking, and a contribution toward commuting expenses.

  • Competitive Compensation: Salary details and any additional benefits, such as healthcare coverage, are not specified in the available job description and can be confirmed during the recruitment process.
