Nestlé Research in Lausanne seeks a Packaging Materials Intern to explore oxygen-scavenging coatings and their impact on long-term packaging performance. You will collaborate with packaging scientists, material specialists and lab experts to gain hands-on experience and mentorship that kick-starts your career.

As an intern, you will contribute to data generation, modeling, and analysis of cooling and humidity effects on coating performance, under safety-conscious practices in a modern lab.

Qualifikationen

• Current student or fresh graduate in material science or a relevant field.
• Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with a safety-conscious approach.
• Having an analytical mindset; exposure to oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, IR spectroscopy or OTR testing is a plus.

• Confirming the oxygen-scavenging action of an innovative coating used in packaging materials.
• Generating laboratory data on how temperature and humidity influence the oxygen-scavenging rate.
• Evaluating the scavenging capacity of the material to support reliable packaging performance over time.

• Identifying potential scavenging mechanisms through analytical techniques such as fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and oxygen transmission rate testing.

• Current student or fresh graduate in material science or a relevant field, and an interest in packaging materials, coatings and oxygen barrier performance.
• Being comfortable working in a laboratory environment, with a careful, curious and safety-conscious approach.
• Having an analytical mindset and, as a plus, previous exposure to fluorescence oxygen sensing, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy or oxygen transmission rate testing.
• Bringing fluency in English; French is an asset.
• Demonstrating courage, collaboration, speed and continuous learning.
