Job summary

ABB is seeking an experienced Chapter Lead (ELSP Pilot) in Napier, New Zealand, to drive power conditioning system development and testing. You will lead engineering efforts across UPS, BESS, AVC, and SFC platforms, guiding junior engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

You will design, analyze, validate, and document power conditioning solutions, with emphasis on performance, safety, and grid compatibility. Strong English communication and graduate qualifications are essential.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience designing/maintaining power electronic systems.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive functional, performance, and safety testing on UPS, BESS, AVC, and SFC systems ensuring compliance with IEC/UL certifications.
Contribute to design, analysis, and validation of low and medium-voltage power conditioning and energy management systems.
Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation including test procedures and commissioning guides.
Plan and execute system commissioning activities on customer sites.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and system performance issues; provide technical guidance to support customer applications.
Develop deep expertise in ABB's power conditioning portfolio and stay current with emerging technologies.
