Roche’s Ophthalmology Discovery team in Basel seeks a highly motivated scientist to drive early-stage drug discovery for major eye diseases. You will identify novel targets, evaluate therapeutic approaches, and independently lead projects from initiation through Phase II readiness.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, or related life sciences.
• Postdoctoral fellowship in Vision Research, Neural Retina, Ophthalmology, or related field.
• Knowledge of neural retina biology and retinal disease mechanisms.
• Experience with animal handling and/or ocular procedures; or 2D/3D model systems (organoids, organ-on-a-chip).
• Excellent English communication; strong collaboration in fast-paced environment.
• 2–3 years in academic or industry drug discovery with leadership of projects and publications.
• Established network in the global ophthalmology research community.

Aufgaben

• Identify and validate ocular disease targets using in vitro/in vivo models.
• Develop and evaluate therapeutic modalities for selected targets.
• Lead drug discovery projects from target initiation to early clinical development (Phase II).
• Collaborate with pRED teams (bioinformatics, safety, translational medicine).
• Lead external collaborations; manage CRO projects, timelines, deliverables.
• Present findings at meetings; publish in top journals; represent Roche at conferences.
• Coordinate lab safety, health, and environmental processes.
