Job summary

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, we seek an Applied Physicist to join the ATLAS Group and lead the upgrade of the muon spectrometer electronics, focusing on RPC detector integration. You will install and commission new detectors in the ATLAS cavern, drawing on your experience in commissioning gaseous detectors and working effectively within a team.

You will design, test, and validate front-end electronics, contribute to QA/QC, and coordinate detector testing around

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in Physics or related field.
  • Strong experience with fast electronics for gaseous detectors.
  • Experience in commissioning and operations of gaseous detectors.
  • Ability to lead small/medium teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production and testing of electronics boards.
  • Coordinate QA/QC activities.
  • Support integration of electronics boards into RPC detectors.
  • Participate in QA/QC testing of fully equipped chambers.
  • Debugging of problematic chambers.
  • Coordinate testing before/after installation of new chambers.
  • Act as the main contact between the RPC project and Technical Coordination during installation.
  • Coordinate detector commissioning after installation.
