Job summary

CERN is seeking a Field Coordinator for CMS HGCAL to oversee assembly, integration, testing and commissioning of the detector. You will manage large facilities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe handling and testing of detector components deep underground within CMS.

The role requires a Master’s/PhD or equivalent in Applied Physics or Mechanical Engineering, with experience in planning complex detector projects and proficient use of Merlin and MS Project.

Qualifications

• Strong track record in planning and coordinating facilities for assembly and testing of complex devices.
• Experience coordinating detector assembly and testing, preferably silicon sensors.
• Familiarity with Merlin and MS Project for project planning.
• Proven ability to work effectively in multinational, multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and maintenance of HGCAL facilities (cleanrooms, assembly hall).
• Provide technical support to physicists, engineers and technicians.
• Plan and supervise large-scale detector integration, including cassette insertion and stacking.
• Coordinate tests of detector sectors on surface and after installation in CMS.
• Ensure safe transport and lowering of HGCAL structures; manage related logistics.
