The Position

Our preclinical research and early clinical development activities center around common and rare indications within the four major pillars of neurodevelopmental disorders, movement disorders, dementias, and multiple sclerosis. At pRED this involves working with colleagues across disciplines to integrate activities along the development spectrum from the lab to patients, including Portfolio development, Research, Biomarkers and Translational Technologies. This Fellowship will give candidates the opportunity to experience cutting-edge drug development and to gain experience in drug development from a Medical Director perspective.

This program will enable candidates to acquire hands-on experience in Early Development, and to be directly involved in the clinical development of therapeutic compounds in Common and Rare indications in Neuroscience and closely work with Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory groups. The program will be adapted according to the candidate’s background and interest, to integrate the candidate within active programmes at Roche, and enable them to develop areas of interest and gain new industry-specific skills with the guidance of a career mentor. The programmes primarily involve active learning in the setting of observation, enquiry and project work.

This position is based at the Roche Innovation Site Basel in Early Development, Neuroscience and Rare Diseases (NRD) in pRED.

Job Mission

Enhance knowledge of drug development and the pharmaceutical industry by:

Participating in core responsibilities of clinical science and understanding the role of different functions within Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED)

Observing and supporting ongoing projects within the therapeutic area of the department (NRD)

Contributing to key steps of drug development including strategic planning clinical development plan, target product profile), preparation of Study material study protocol), internal and external meetings Investigator meeting, Scientific Advisory Meeting)

Your impact

Collaborative work with different functions including Research, Biomarkers and Clinical Scientists, Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory and to plan and implement study activities such as clinical endpoints and study design

Presentation at both internal and external meetings, congresses, and symposiums

Interaction with our senior leadership

Engagement with Patient Associations

Encouragement and support for publication of your work.

Coaching and guidance from managers and peers, including access to a mentorship program.

Your Profile

Degree in Medicine and specialty training in neurology or equivalent (old age psychiatry, neurogeriatrics etc.)

Experience in research required (PhD degree, or appropriate list of publications). Academic position Assistant Professor) is desirable

Fellowship or clinical and research experience in neuromuscular disorders preferred ALS and/or muscular dystrophies)
