ANAVIA is a Swiss aerospace company and global market leader in the development and manufacture of advanced unmanned vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft systems with a maximum take-off weight of up to 1,150 kg. Our dual-use helicopter platforms and sensors support a wide range of missions, including intelligence and surveillance (ISR), infrastructure inspection, cargo, and other critical operations.
Our engineering team is growing!
Join us as a Mechanical Design Engineer to built cutting-edge unmanned helicopter systems. Whether your strength lies in composite structures or rotary systems, you’ll play a key role in shaping next-generation helicopter through hands-on design, analysis, prototyping, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Key Tasks
- Aircraft Structural Design: Design and develop primary and secondary structural components, assemblies and installations for unmanned helicopter platforms, including metallic and composite structures, brackets, supports, fairings, access panels and equipment installations.
- 3D CAD and DMU Integration: Create and modify 3D parts, assemblies and installations within the aircraft Digital Mock-Up (DMU), considering interfaces, accessibility, maintainability, manufacturing constraints and installation requirements.
- Geometry and Surface Design: Develop components involving complex geometry and surface-based design using CAD systems such as Siemens NX or CATIA.
- Composite Design: Apply practical knowledge of composite materials, laminate construction and manufacturing processes to the design of lightweight aircraft structures. Support laminate definition, material selection and weight optimisation in coordination with Manufacturing and Structural Analysis.
- Engineering Drawings and Product Definition: Create and maintain DFM drawings, installation drawings, assemblies and associated technical product definition in accordance with applicable design standards, GD&T principles and company procedures.
- Product Structure and PLM: Create and maintain engineering product structures, assemblies and Bills of Material within the PLM environment. Ensure that CAD data, drawings and associated engineering documentation are correctly structured, linked and released.
- Configuration and Change Management: Support Engineering Change Requests and other formal design-change activities. Understand the impact of modifications on affected parts, assemblies, interfaces, documentation and product configuration, ensuring appropriate traceability throughout the change process.
- PLM Workflow and Data Management: Work within defined engineering workflows using comparable PLM systems such as Teamcenter, ENOVIA or Windchill, including data maturity, revision control, release processes and lifecycle management.
- Aircraft Systems Integration: Support the mechanical integration of aircraft systems and equipment, considering installation envelopes, interfaces, routing, accessibility, environmental constraints and maintenance requirements.
- Design for Manufacturing and Assembly: Develop designs considering manufacturing processes, assembly sequence, tolerances, inspectability, maintainability, weight and cost.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- At least 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience. Strong junior candidates with relevant aerospace design experience may also be considered.
- Professional experience in aerospace, aircraft, helicopters, and/or UAVs or a closely related regulated engineering environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience designing structural parts, assemblies or mechanical installations, preferably for aircraft applications.
- Good practical knowledge of 3D CAD. Experience with Siemens NX or CATIA is required.
- Experience working with a PLM/PDM system, such as Teamcenter, ENOVIA or Windchill is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of engineering change management, revision control, product maturity, release workflows and technical-data traceability.
- Understanding of product structures and Bills of Material (BOM) within an engineering environment.
- Knowledge of metallic and composite aircraft structures and their typical manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of composite materials, laminate construction and basic composite design principles.
- Understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, tolerances and manufacturing definition.
- Ability to understand mechanical interfaces and integrate components within complex assemblies.
- Good analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proficiency in English. German is desirable.
