Job Description: Material Flow System (MFS) Engineer.

Background:

As a Material Flow System (MFS) Engineer, you will be involved in various investment projects. The position is advertised as a full-time role for the entire project duration—expected to last approximately 3 years (80% part-time possible). As part of investment projects at the Kaiseraugst site, two new packaging lines and one assembly line will be installed in our packaging facility.

The logistical supply and disposal for these lines must be planned, implemented, and ensured on schedule (including integration into the existing material flow infrastructure). The MFS is responsible for delivering consumables from the warehouse to the lines and transporting packaged/assembled goods back to the warehouse.

In addition, a new cold storage facility is planned at the site to store the aforementioned materials (consumables and finished packaged/assembled goods). The position includes planning, consulting, documentation, implementation, and commissioning tasks related to both the material flow system and the new warehouse construction.

As an MFS Engineer, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the project teams and be responsible for planning and executing the tasks mentioned above. You will collaborate closely with an experienced Roche colleague from the relevant department.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create, review, and approve project, plant, qualification, and HSE documentation (HSE = Health, Safety, Environment).
  • Execute and ensure work packages are delivered according to the state of the art, as well as legal and internal HSE and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulations.
  • Transition systems/plants from project phase into routine operations and handover to customers (packaging/warehouse operations) or to technical support/operations engineering.

Must-Haves:

  • Technical education with a degree from a university or technical college (FH/TU), ideally with a focus on (technical) logistics or material flow systems—or an equivalent qualified training.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in designing logistic systems and material flow systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of technical equipment in the field of material flow, warehouse, and logistics.
  • Understanding of GMP requirements or willingness to gain expertise in GMP-compliant environments.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, independence, initiative, and integrity.
  • Flexibility and quick comprehension, enabling rapid adaptation to customer and project requirements.
  • Goal-oriented approach, questioning conventional methods, and openness to new, creative, "out-of-the-box" ideas.
  • Comfortable working in an agile, self-organized environment.
  • Excellent social skills, teamwork, communication, and coordination abilities—especially when interacting with stakeholders across all levels.
  • Fluent in German (written and spoken); English is a plus.
